Casey nodded. “I’ll go get her.” She ran out of the room quickly, back into the living room where Lily was sat in Amanda’s lap. She flashed her sister-in-law a smile and nodded, affirming the boys would watch her and picked her up. “C’mon, Lil,” And she walked back into the kitchen, handing her to Bryce who was closets. “Just go into the living room for a bit, we’ll be out the patio if you need us.” She smiled at them and left before popping back in to say, “Her bottle’s in her bag on her stroller out in the hallway, and so is some of her toys if you need them.” Then she left.

Bryce looked at the child on his hip who was staring at him with big eyes before she giggled. “Um..” He said, looking over to Dane awkwardly, shifting her on his hip. “Where’s the off switch?”

“Here.” Dane held out his hands and took the little girl and sat down on the couch with her. “Go get her a toy or something we can play with her with until she falls asleep.” He bounced his knee and smiled at her, her big eyes watching him in fascination.

Bryce threw his hands up and walked out of the room, grabbing the lilac bag off the stroller and walking back into the room to sit down and opened it, a large stuffed animal popping out first and tumbling to the floor. “How much shi—Stuff, does one baby need?” He muttered and picked it up, waggling it in her face.

Lily reached out her hands for the bear and hugged it to her.

Dane rolled his eyes. “Babies are not worth the hassle.”

Bryce zipped the bag shut and put it beside him, leaning back and relaxing into the couch and looking at her. “No, but she’s cute, I guess.”

“She is,” Dane said, playing with her hair and making her laugh.

“If she wore heels,” Bryce agreed. “But she hates them with a passion so.” He shrugged. “Ugh.” He even knew what clothes she liked and didn’t.

Dane just smiled because Bryce was so hilariously resistant to the idea of being in a relationship.

Casey popped her head around the door a moment later. “Finished?” She chirped and walked in, looking around. “Good job. Do you two mind watching Lily for a bit? Aaron’s asleep in his stroller and we figure she’ll pass out soon too.”

Bryce shrugged and looked at Dane.

“Sure,” Dane said, jumping off the counter.

Casey nodded. “I’ll go get her.” She ran out of the room quickly, back into the living room where Lily was sat in Amanda’s lap. “No,” Dane said, hopping up on the counter. “Not even close.”

“You can still sit on Alex’s lap and make it look affectionate?” Bryce muttered under his breath and rolled his eyes.

“Stop trying,” Dane said, laughing.

Bryce shook his head and turned to him, finished putting the dishes away. “I’m out of pros of being short. I guess I’m lucky Jane’s even smaller than me.”

“Someone has to be the shorter one,” Dane said, taking out his phone and texting Alex that dinner was over. “Though you’d break down a wall of stereotype if you were the shorter one.”

Bryce lifted the dishes and walked across to the cupboard to open the door and start piling them back in. “It could be worse, you could be a midget,” He shrugged.

“You are a master of pep talks,” Dane said sarcastically, drying off his hands.

“At least you’ll still be able to get a job at Christmas at being Santa’s elf at the mall?” Bryce tried again, pushing the wine glasses in and lining them up.

“No,” Dane said, hopping up on the counter. “Not even close.”

“More commonly referred to as being a teenager,” Dane said. He handed Lily’s plate, finally clean, to Bryce, then turned to him. “Can you believe I’ll be a senior next year?”

Bryce wiped it dry on the front before turning it to the back. “Considering you’re still the height of a sophomore?” He put it down and jumped off the counter. “No.”

“Shut up,” Dane said, subconsciously straightening his posture so he would be just that much taller.
